Iris Q. Lin...

I believe that people who have a very refined sense of style, have a story behind it. A story that tells the kind of persona they have, the things they like, the things that inspire them and the things that they believe in.

Having a good sense of style is not something you can go and buy in a shop, it is something that you educate yourself in. In my honest view, Iris is one of  those people I know.
Iris, a Design student at Parsons and a dear friend of mine. Since the day I thought of doing a post on profiling, her’s was the first name that came to my mind. Not only she has exceptional dressing skills but is also a very tastefully creative person. Here is what she had to say:

The Vintage Dandy...

I met Red at Washington Sq Park... The moment I saw him I felt as if someone just walked out of the streets of London - The Vintage London... I think it takes a lot of sophisticated and a refined taste to pull off such a look... Not many men do it nowadays... A selected few... What stood out in his look was the English plaid pants... Its been a while that no one has actually worn them...There is something so contemporary about them and yet they are a classic wardrobe piece for Men... The Teal colored pea coat... brownish olive under jacket... printed satin scarf... ascot cap... white shoes.... and the polka dotted brown socks which I loved... for some reason the look takes me back to the vintage times... where men dressed bold but with sophistication...

Chic Workwear...

I have always liked the idea of getting styling inspiration from workwear.... Something that has a purpose and looks good at the same time is a definite 'Yes' for me....Todd is a farmer in Pennsylvania... and the clothes he is wearing are for mainly outdoor purposes... Waterproof... Rugged....Durable... and yes they are  very Chic... I like the layers of colors he has in his attire ( Teal - Red- Purple) which made his look so interesting... especially the Teal colored canvas jacket... Teal has been my favorite color for this Fall... has a little sophistication and is playful at the very same time...

The Digits in Fashion...

On a random visit to the Uniqlo store in soho I met Phil who works in a Financial firm.
The way he was dressed up, it clearly meant that this guy knows what he is doing. That' s what I liked about this whole preppy look, so many colors yet so coherent. It clearly seems he has a refined sense of style, something which I think one educates himself... you cannot go and buy that in any store...
When I said ' That's a lot of colors for a guy who works in the finance ' .... His reply was ' I am even more colorful when I go to work!'...
I have respect for those people for whom dressing up is just not a way to impress or stand out  but a fun little thing which you enjoy doing everyday... And it clearly looks Phil has a lot of fun dressing up...

In my recent post I have mentioned how important it is for men to accessorize themselves... Since the rest of the attire remains basic it becomes important to have these small little accessories in your outfit... because only the most sophisticated dressers know how to pay attention to small details which makes the outfit far more interesting...
